Jack is enjoying his time at a resort...

We've been at a lovely resort in Colorado called the Broadmoor. Jack was flirting with everyone there. Jack dressed up for dinner. The socks were particularly fun.

Chilling by the lake....

We had a great time. Jeff and Mark worked out (and Mark is still sore two days later). We slept alot. Crazy alot. Like turning in at 8:45 pm and sleeping through the night.

Mark played tennis and implored Jack to not watch his form. He also physically experienced what exercising at 6000 feet above sea level.

It's Barry's Birthday today....

And I couldn't be happier.

Barry just tickles my funny bone. I am not sure what this "grown up humor" is all about, but Dad and Pop say he's a master. All I know is that he deserves the very best birthday possible.

Love Jack.

Travel Time - Off to Colorado

Jeff, Jack and I are in Colorado for the week, and then Jeff and Jack go on to Santa Fe to see Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Ray.

No pics yet, but I promise some will come soon.

Jack was a trooper on the plane. He was sweet and easy and probably slept for 2 of the 4.5 hours. The funniest part of the whole trip for me was when we were getting on the plane.

Somehow, Jeff and I continue to miss the "parents with squalling children please board first" line. So by the time we got on the first class passengers were enjoing their glass of wine and their WSJs. i am carring Jack over one arm and he's facing out. Of course, I have balanced him on my forearm so i am giving his diaphragm a work out as I struggle through the aisle. Just as we pass row two of first class, Jack lets forth with a HUGE belch right onto one of our first class brethren. I avoided eye contact and rushed forward. From what I could tell there was no regurgitation, so all in all, Mr. Second Row of First Class should probably be thanking his lucky stars!

Hope everyone is doing well. Jack certainly is and sends his best.

I am amused!

Watching this video will (1) add years to your life, (2) make you forget to file your taxes, (3) allow you to be a Zen driver in crazy DC traffic, (4) inspire you to try crazy new things that you may have been unsure about, (5) slow your heartrate, and (6) provide you an opportunity to reflect upon all that is wonderful about life....

Hope each and everyone of you have a fantastic weekend...

love Jack!

Someone is discovering the joys of (quasi) solid food

Jack is discovering that there is more in the world than just formula. Here he is savoring rice cereal. The onomatapoetic nature of pablum is now very clear.
Jack has yet to figure out the full destructive power of baby food....e.g., in his hair, on the floor, on the walls. It is only a matter of time.
Another happy customer.

Papa getting ready to fly on Air Force 2!

Last week we rolled out the Recovery Act project that I have been working on for the last four months (said project is why I have not been as timely in my blogging duties...) I have an incredible team of some of the most dedicated and hardworking people you will ever see, and they successfully stood up a brand new competitive grant program in an impossibly short time frame. The announcement occurred in Wattsburg, PA and I was lucky enough to fly on Air Force 2 with the Vice President to the event. Note the tall good looking guys in the background - definitely not flight attendants!
