Blueberries. Mmmmm!

Our dietary repertoire now includes peas, zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas and the colorful blueberries seen here. Delicious.

Big News. Really Big.

So, Jack and I (Jeff) are back in DC today, after 2 lovely weeks in Colorado and New Mexico visiting family. And I'm trying to finish my (long overdue) taxes this week. Jack got hungry a little while ago, and I propped his bottle up with a pillow, so I could get one more thing finished before devoting full time to the feeding. And then Jack did something amazing. After he turned his head and his bottle came out, he reached out, grabbed it and put it back in his mouth -- all by himself. He's shown fleeting interest in holding the bottle in the past, but it's never gone far. This time, he's repeatedly moved it in and out of his mouth, and he's drunk the whole bottle. I can't overstate how big this is. Big. Really, really, really big. I've been so riveted with the sight that I wasn't even able to get to the camera.

Keep an eye out for pictures of Jack holding his own bottle -- and a very, very happy Jeff!

Jack spent a night up in Mora, with his grandparents' good friends Toby and Greg. They have a beautiful ranch there that sits in a saddle between two mountains. Jack thought the whole scene was great and he can't wait to come back with his dads for another visit.

Jack met his first horse, Liza Jane, at Toby & Greg's. He was a little confused, but decided that she was just like a big, strange-looking dog. What's not to like about that?

Lunch at Zia Diner

Jack and his Grandma met Pauline for lunch in Santa Fe on Thursday. The food was delicious, and Pauline said all sorts of nice things about how cute and sweet Jack was. He thinks they're going to become fast friends.

Goofy Baby Hats

This afternoon, on the way back from Toby & Greg's place, we stopped at a great little restaurant in Embudo that sits right beside the Rio Grande, as it runs out of the mountains. They had cool, batik napkins, which Jack wanted to turn into a bunch of different hats. Who could say no to a request like that? Feel free to add your own interpretations of the different hat configurations for us.

Hackey-sack baby.

El Piccolo Bandito, right at home alongside the Rio Grande. We didn't quite manage to get the scarf over the nose and under the eyes. But you get the idea.

Happy baby Samurai? Little biker dude?

Elf hat? Pope hat?

Baby Smurf. This was pretty much when Jack ran out of patience with the whole hat process.
