On my second day without Jeff, our dear friend Aurie went to lunch with us. Aurie and Marcy have two boys, Ellis and Graham, and thus are pros. Aurie was so sweet and helpful and supportive, especially since I was feeling a little overwhelmed and inadequate.
We went to this fun little place in Silver Spring called the Red Dog Cafe, right on the edge of Rock Creek Park. Then Aurie took me to her favorite toy store on Connecticut Ave NW, Child's Play. In a magnificent display of overcompensation, I walked out with an armful of educational toys.
