So, Jack and I (Jeff) are back in DC today, after 2 lovely weeks in Colorado and New Mexico visiting family. And I'm trying to finish my (long overdue) taxes this week. Jack got hungry a little while ago, and I propped his bottle up with a pillow, so I could get one more thing finished before devoting full time to the feeding. And then Jack did something amazing. After he turned his head and his bottle came out, he reached out, grabbed it and put it back in his mouth -- all by himself. He's shown fleeting interest in holding the bottle in the past, but it's never gone far. This time, he's repeatedly moved it in and out of his mouth, and he's drunk the whole bottle. I can't overstate how big this is. Big. Really, really, really big. I've been so riveted with the sight that I wasn't even able to get to the camera.
Keep an eye out for pictures of Jack holding his own bottle -- and a very, very happy Jeff!

Jack spent a night up in Mora, with his grandparents' good friends Toby and Greg. They have a beautiful ranch there that sits in a saddle between two mountains. Jack thought the whole scene was great and he can't wait to come back with his dads for another visit.

This afternoon, on the way back from Toby & Greg's place, we stopped at a great little restaurant in Embudo that sits right beside the Rio Grande, as it runs out of the mountains. They had cool, batik napkins, which Jack wanted to turn into a bunch of different hats. Who could say no to a request like that? Feel free to add your own interpretations of the different hat configurations for us.

Yesterday, Jack's Grandma Ruth had him working on trying to crawl toward a few little toys. After he'd tried in vain to move forward for several minutes, he decided it was easier to lie down and pull the sheet toward him to get at those darn toys.

When Grandpa Ray got home from work today, he immediately sat down and started playing with Jack. He did this hilarious thing with a monkey hand puppet that almost had Jack crawling. Jeff was so captivated by it that he forgot to pick up the camera. (Neglectful father.) Jack says this big guy is all sorts of fun.
Greg and Danielle went down to Santa Fe with us this weekend. They were both really sweet with Jack, and he got a huge kick out of them. We aren't posting the pictures of Jack and Greg with Danielle, because she hates to have her picture taken -- although it turned out great. Greg and Danielle went back to Ft Collins this afternoon. Jack misses them already.
