This is what you call Professional Help

This morning Jack, Dad and I were in the kitchen having breakfast. Jack was safely strapped into his highchair and I asked Dad if he would mind watching over Jack while I took a quick shower. Dad said he would be happy to. As you can tell in the first picture, Jack was slightly skeptical. I thought to myself, worse case scenario, Jack can play with Cheerios while Dad reads the paper.

Fifteen minutes later I returned and walked into the kitchen and witnessed the following vignette. I have no idea where he got the headband (also known as a "deely-bopper"). Nor had I seen the mirror. But in a flash, Dad had figured out a way to keep Jack transfixed. Presaging advice that I would later receive from a primary school teacher with 15+ years of experience, Dad had made sure that Jack could see himself in a mirror.

I guess if you raise seven children of your own and then, throughout the last 22 years watch over 12 of your grandchildren, and along the way coach hundreds of children in track and field, you are always going to have a few tricks up your sleeve. Jack (and I) are very lucky to have such a sweet Jelly Bean Grandpa.

Last Night Jackson Engaged in a Time-honored Seifert Family Tradition

Poker in the kitchen with Mom and Dad. The latest game is Texas Hold Em, but we are all looking to the return of Criss Cross.

Uncle Pat and Jack's cousins, Christopher and Zach were there as was Aunt Cathy. We keep saying that Jack has been a blessing and he sure was last night because Pop CLEANED up at the poker table.

It's just me, but I think he should shave this thing once and for all...

Uncle Mice LOVES Babies

If you have ever been to our place in DC, you have seen Michael Ward's work. Michael is an incredible architect and designed all of the renovations in our house. He also loves loves loves babies. His niece Satchi calls him "Mice". Jeff and I could sit and listen to Michael tell stories for hours. He's a little bit of Flannery O'Connor, Faulkner and Fanny Flagg all rolled into one!

In these shots, you can see that David is either (1) teaching Jack the Beyonce "Single Ladies" steps or (2) rehearsing "I'm a Little Teapot, Short and Stout."

Sorry, we've been off the grid lately...

Jack's been busy discovering the joys of the South. Jeff, Jack and Mark headed to Nash-Vegas to visit David and Michael. This pic is in their beautiful backyard. David and Michael spoiled Jack so much and whispered alot about this beautiful and very smart girl who lives in Atlanta named Satchi. Jack seems intrigued.

Just home from work...

Jeff is really enjoying his new gig. I couldn't be prouder of him. The sweetest thing is watching him literally hop up the steps when he comes home looking for his Jack. As you can tell, Jack is pretty happy to be in his Dad's arms also. I particularly like the left leg pop-up from Jack in this pic!

Shaun and Jack

Shaun is our trainer. I met him at a gym in Adams Morgan and then hired him as a nutritionist. He was able to help me lose 18 pounds over six months. I then was able to add 12 of them back on with my most recent job.

When Jeff started the "stay at home with Jack" gig, I thought it would be important to help Jeff get some exercise. So for Christmas last year, I hired Shaun to work out with Jeff. Suffice it to say that Shaun can make you hurt using not much more than 2 barbells, a yoga mat and your own body weight. Jack is a big fan of Shaun's also, mostly because he makes Dad and Pop make such funny sounds and faces.
